The standard broker path combines qualifying experience, approved 72-hour Course 2, DBPR application approval, and the separate broker state exam.

First, count qualifying experience.
The usual experience requirement is 24 active months during the preceding five years. Florida recognizes qualifying experience under brokers in other jurisdictions as well as specified government employment and prior broker licensure. Simply having held an inactive license does not establish the required active experience.
Have DBPR review the applicable route and any required license-history certification. If you held a Florida sales associate license during the preceding five years, required sales post-licensing must also be completed.
Course 2 is broker pre-licensing.
The standard education requirement is a 72-hour approved broker course. Complete the school’s certification requirements and keep your certificate. Your application and education can progress together; you need the required completion before the state exam.
Daniel Larson Training offers Course 2 with a traditional final, Course 2 + FastPass, or FastPass + Post. Broker FastPass combines course certification and state-exam preparation: its three certification exams are designed to reflect the broker state exam’s question style and subject matter. Pass all three to earn your course completion certificate while preparing for the separate state exam. Each package includes one year of access and direct instructor support.
For the full Course 2 + FastPass licensing package, pass all three broker certification exams with a score of 75% or higher on each. Each exam contains 100 questions and provides answer explanations for review. FastPass includes practice attempts.
Completing the instructional Course 2 alone does not issue a completion certificate. Earn it through Broker FastPass or the separate traditional Course 2 final exam included in the package you selected. Follow that certification course’s completion instructions.
Apply, qualify, and take the broker exam.
Submit the correct broker application and supporting experience documents, follow the fingerprinting instructions, and wait for DBPR eligibility. Schedule the broker examination through Pearson. Passing Course 2 alone does not issue or activate a broker license.
Whether you plan to operate a brokerage or work as a broker associate affects the registration steps after passing. Resolve those with DBPR before conducting business in the new role.
How long does the broker upgrade take?
First confirm that your qualifying experience is complete. The usual 24 active months in the preceding five years is an eligibility requirement, separate from the time you spend in Course 2.
Once eligible, your broker application and 72-hour course can move forward together. Gather any required license-history records, apply through the correct route, and follow the fingerprinting instructions. DBPR’s review depends on a complete application and any background questions; a school cannot promise an approval date.
DBPR says scheduling eligibility becomes available within 72 hours after approval. Your actual test date depends on Pearson’s available appointments and your readiness. See the broker exam format and compare the broker licensing budget.
A broker license starts a new post-licensing obligation.
Your first broker renewal requires 60-hour broker post-licensing unless an applicable exemption has been established. Prior sales post-licensing does not replace it. After the initial broker renewal, the regular education requirement is 14-hour CE.
